Darius Garland Signs Multi-Year Deal With Shoe Company
Darius Garland has agreed to a multi-year contract with New Balance, the shoe company announced on Wednesday.
Via FanNation Kicks reporter Pat Benson, New Balance's head of basketball sports marketing Naveen Lokesh released the following statement:
"We couldn’t be happier to have Darius on board. Darius embodies the independent spirit of New Balance. His commitment to mastering the game, while also giving back to his community, is incredibly impressive. Darius is driven to succeed his way, and that is something we value at New Balance."
The Cleveland Cavaliers star guard also commented on his new sneaker partnership.
"It is a dream to become a part of the New Balance brand. New Balance is a family brand and it felt that way from the first conversation. The brand’s commitment to individuality and their respect for athletes to be themselves is something I deeply respect."
Garland now joins a New Balance family loaded with NBA stars already, including the likes of Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard, Chicago Bulls swingman Zach LaVine, Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray and Philadelphia 76ers combo man Tyrese Maxey.
With the Cavs healthier and Garland steering the ship, the team is beginning to turn a corner. He is commanding the offense well and staying aggressive consistently, getting his teammates involved and looking to score on his own. Hopefully, we'll continue to see this version of Garland over the course of the year.
This season, Garland has been seen wearing different versions of New Balance shoes on the court, including the TWO WXY X4 among others.
Maybe the kicks have been the trick!
