Even after the NBA trade deadline has passed and players are locked into their teams for the rest of the season, there's still talk from the national media about where Donovan Mitchell will be playing at the start of next year.

But here are the facts: Mitchell is playing at an MVP level while putting up career-highs across the board and the Cleveland Cavaliers are second place in the Eastern Conference.

All of this goes back to the one thing the Mitchell says is his primary focus this season and with the Cavs, that's winning. Malika Andres of ESPN interviewed Mitchell on Wednesday before their primetime matchup with the Chicago Bulls and he talked just about this when asked about his future.

"At the end of the day, I'm focused on winning," confidently said Mitchell.

"I said that at the beginning of the year. The biggest thing is, how can we win? And it goes without saying, whatever situation brings winning. That's kind of been my biggest thing and people always have, it's always going to be no matter what I say here to you Malika it's going to be something that's talked about, but ultimately we just focus on what we can control, and be the best team we can be."

Cleveland was outmatched in their quick, five-game series loss to the New York Knicks in last year's playoffs. The front office identified their needs which is what led them to acquiring Max Strus and signing Georges Niang during the offseason.

Right now, the Cavaliers are winning which will put them in a good spot for this year's postseason. But that winning has to continue after the regular season is over.
