Donovan Mitchell Goes Off In Cavs' Paris Victory Over Nets
Donovan Mitchell always rises to the occasion.
You know he's going to elevate his game when the lights are on him and now Mitchell is showing he can do that on the international stage. Spida put on an absolute show for the fans in Paris as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday evening.
Mitchell scored 45 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out six assists in the victory. He even got it done on the defensive end too grabbing four steals. Those 45 points are also a new season-high for Mitchell.
This stat line also makes him just the second player in franchise history to score 45+ points, 5+ assists, and 3+ steals in a game. The other player to do this in a Cavs uniform was LeBron James in November 2017 (via @CavsNotes on X).
The French faithful were so impressed with the performance that Mitchell put on that he even started to get "MVP" chants when he was on the foul line in the closing moments of the game.
Cleveland's head coach had nothing but positive things to say about his star player after that game.
"Donovan did what Donovan does," said J.B. Bickerstaff. "For the year and a half now that he's been with us, in the biggest moments when we've needed him most, he's found opportunities to shine. We were struggling to score down the stretch, but he took it upon himself and made big ones to help us keep the lead where it was."
Watching Mitchell play the game of basketball is always a treat and now the rest of the world knows that too.
