The Cleveland Cavaliers have now won seven straight games. This is a new season-high for the wine and gold and is the longest active winning streak in the NBA. Their victory over the Atlanta Hawks perfectly encapsulates what this team has been doing right over the last month.

Defense played a key role in this win. They held Atlanta to just 39% shooting from the floor and 28% from behind the arc. J.B. Bickerstaff stressed how important defense would be on this road trip and the Cavs started it off strong.

Donovan Mitchell led the way with 18 points and shot 35% (6-17) from the floor but did not hit any of the six three-pointers he attempted. He did dish out six assists as Mitchell continues to be a great game manager in the absence of Darius Garland.

Jarrett Allen continued his dominance in the paint scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He's now recorded a double-double in seven straight games tying a Cavaliers franchise record.

Sam Merrill has been a huge find for the Cavs. His three-point shooting has helped Cleveland redefine their offense and thrive in the absence of two stats. Merrill scored 18 points against the Hawks while shooting 35% (5-14) from behind the arc. He also found his teammates for six assists.

Cleveland continues their road trip on Monday night when they take on the Orlando Magic.
