The Cleveland Cavaliers officially begin the 2023-24 season on Wednesday night as they travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about what's to come this year, but the season is opening up with some sour news.

The team updated its injury report on Tuesday evening and the Cavs are already filling it up.

Jarrett Allen - OUT

Jarrett Allen has been nursing a bone bruise in his ankle for the last two-and-a-half weeks. The injury caused him to miss all four preseason games and the rest of training camp as Cleveland implements a new offense for this season.

The starting center has already been ruled OUT for Wednesday night's game.

J.B. Bickerstaff said that they want Allen to participate in a full practice before getting him back on the floor. Since that hasn't happened, JA won't be playing.

Darius Garland - QUESTIONABLE

Darius Garland missed the final preseason game as he worked through a few minor injuries. It didn't appear that this would have any effect on his status for the opener, but DG is listed as QUESTIONABLE (as of Tuesday evening) for Wednesday's game

Ty Jerome is likely next in line to start at the point guard if Garland is unable to go.

Dean Wade - DOUBTFUL

Dean Wade put in a great training camp and preseason as he looks to reignite his role on the Cavaliers after missing much of 2022-23 with various injuries. That will all have to wait. Wade missed the last two days of practice with an illness.

He's officially been ruled as DOUBTFUL against the Nets.
