Jarrett Allen’s Monster Night Not Enough, Cavaliers Fall To Lakers
Cleveland Cavaliers starting center Jarrett Allen had recently put up strong showings against two of the NBA’s premier big men prior to Saturday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers.
This trend continued against the Lakers, as Allen battled against eight-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis.
Although Cleveland fell by a final score of 121-115, Allen tallied his second double-double in his last three games.
The 25-year-old ended up with 21 points (on 9-of-12 shooting from the field), a season-high 14 rebounds (which led all players), three assists, a season-high three steals, and two blocks in a season-high 37 minutes of action.
The Wine and Gold put up 40 points in the first quarter, which were their most in a quarter this season. Allen scored six points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in the period, as the Cavaliers held a five-point advantage.
He then led Cleveland with seven points in the second quarter, but the Cavaliers were outscored in the period 35-31. Allen also grabbed a pair of rebounds and blocked a shot in the period.
According to @CavsNotes on X, with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the first half, he recorded a double-double in a single half for the 12th time in his career.
Additionally, Cleveland’s 71 first-half points were its most in a half this season.
In the third quarter, Allen totaled four points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block, as the Cavaliers held a 94-93 lead entering the final period.
However, the Wine and Gold were outscored 28-21 in the fourth quarter. Allen had four points, a rebound, and a steal in the period, playing a game-high 11 minutes.
He finished with eight points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in the second half.
