Heat’s Three-Point And Bench Blitz Snap Cavaliers’ Winning Streak
The Cleveland Cavaliers entered Wednesday night’s game against the Miami Heat with a four-game winning streak.
This streak, however, was snapped in a 129-96 defeat at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
This represents the Cavaliers’ largest loss of the season, surpassing their 109-91 defeat to the New York Knicks on October 31.
The Heat shot a blistering 20-for-35 (57.1%) from three-point range, which is the highest three-point percentage allowed by the Cavaliers’ defense in a game this season. Miami’s 20 three-pointers are tied for the most allowed by Cleveland’s defense this season, as the Sacramento Kings also drained 20 threes against the Wine and Gold back on November 13.
In a well-rounded scoring performance, Miami had 64 bench points, which were the most allowed in a game by the Cavaliers since their Opening Night contest against the Brooklyn Nets, when Cleveland allowed 65 bench points.
Although Miami led the game wire-to-wire, the Cavaliers did have a few bright spots.
In his first career NBA start, undrafted rookie Craig Porter Jr. scored a team-high 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, marking his fourth consecutive contest scoring in double-figures. He also added a team-high five assists.
Additionally, Evan Mobley recorded his sixth consecutive double-double with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
And as a team, the Cavaliers shot 14-for-30 (46.7%) from three-point range, which was their highest percentage from deep this season.
Up next, the Wine and Gold will host the second game of their five-game homestand against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.
