A Much-Needed Performance From Darius Garland, Cavs News
The inconsistency of the Cleveland Cavaliers has been a hotly discussed topic over the last couple of days. One of the players who has been very up-and-down to start the season is Darius Garland.
The DG that we all know and love showed up against the Golden State Warriors to help push the Cavs to a 118-110 victory over their Western Conference rival. He finished the night shooting 60% (3-for-5) from behind the arc which was an encouraging sign to see.
This may seem like a minuscule accomplishment for the fifth-year guard, but shooting has been something that Garland has struggled a lot with through the first part of the season.
Specifically his three-point shooting. Garland was knocking down just 13% (2-for-15) from behind that arc heading into Cleveland's Saturday night matchup. His three-point percentage jumped up to 25% following this efficient night.
Yes, he missed four games at the very start of the season with a hamstring injury, but some of his stats were concerning as he racked up minutes on the floor.
DG has still been able to find his shot even though the threes have taken a little while to come around. He's averaging 17.4 points per game while shooting 47% from the floor.
This display against the Warriors is an encouraging sign and may be exactly what Garland needs to put a reset on his season. The Cavaliers have high hopes for this year and they need DG to be at his very best if they hope to accomplish those goals.
