The last name “Nance” is one that Cleveland Cavaliers fans have become quite accustomed to over the years.

Larry Nance Sr., who is one of just seven former Cavaliers to have his number retired by the team, played his final six-plus NBA seasons with Cleveland after being traded from the Phoenix Suns during the 1987-88 campaign. The power forward averaged 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game for the Cavaliers, and helped lead them to five playoff appearances, including the 1992 Eastern Conference Finals.

Larry Nance Jr., who was traded to Cleveland from the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2017-18 season, played three-plus seasons with the Wine and Gold. The 31-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game for the Cavaliers, and was part of their run to the 2018 NBA Finals.

Now, another member of the Nance family has reportedly joined Cleveland.

According to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers are signing Pete Nance to a 10-day contract.

The 23-year-old joins the Wine and Gold after a productive stint with the team’s NBA G-League affiliate Cleveland Charge. This season, Nance has averaged 13.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game in a combined 21 games across the NBA G-League Showcase Cup and regular season.

His older brother, Larry Jr., shared his excitement about the transaction on X.

The 6-foot-10 Pete was an undrafted free agent before Cleveland eventually signed him to an Exhibit 10 contract following a productive collegiate career at Northwestern and North Carolina.

According to Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, signing Nance to a 10-day contract gives the Cavaliers a needed 14th player, since the team has held 13 players for the maximum two weeks that the NBA allows.
