REPORT: Lakers Have Trade Interest In Cavaliers Superstar Donovan Mitchell

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly discussed trading for an All-Star such as Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Even after the Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed they want to ride out the season with Donovan Mitchell and Koby Altman reportedly told opposing GMs to "lose my number" in regards to a Mitchell trade, his name is still popping up in rumors as the trade deadline approaches.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the most recent team to reportedly express interest in Mitchell, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

McMenamin said in a recent article, “The Lakers have discussed internally the possibility of packaging three picks, along with players they already have on their books, to pursue a bona fide star, such as Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers or Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, team sources told ESPN.”

Mitchell is putting together a career season with the Cavs while having a year and a half left on his contract. It's not a surprise that teams want to trade for him.

Spida is averaging 27.8 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.4 rebounds a game. Mitchell's playmaking ability has been on display lately as he's set and tied his career-high in assists (13) on two separate occasions in the absence of Darius Garland.

However, wanting to trade for a player and actually doing so are two separate things, and, right now, reports point to the Cavs keeping Mitchell through the end of the season and making another playoff push with him on the roster.

Even with all the trade rumors swirling on the All-Star, the Cavaliers have won eight straight games and are beating teams in blowout fashion. This should be a time when Cleveland is reinforcing their roster, now tearing it down.
