Throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, Spencer Davies is going to turn back the clock to milestone moments and important dates in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ past with “This Day In Cavs History.” Whether they’ve been good or bad, these events were significant in the franchise’s 53-year existence.

Happy Halloween to all who celebrate! One team we know that goes all out for the chills and thrills is the Cavs. We’ve seen all kinds of attire, masks and more before games and after, but there is one particular year that sticks out when it comes to the wine and gold having fun during the spooky season.

In the fall of 2016, LeBron and the rest of the squad decided to make light of Cleveland’s comeback win against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. There was a skeleton band on stage with a drum that had a “3-1 lead” logo designed on it. In addition, there were Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson graveyard headstone cookies to snack on.

That year, LeBron was Jerome from the hit show "Martin." Kevin Love and his now-wife Kate Bock donned colorful “Dumb and Dumber” suits. Iman Shumpert was The Joker from Batman. Kyrie Irving put on a Power Ranger outfit.

You can see JR SmithChanning Frye, Richard Jefferson, James JonesDahntay Jones and Jordan McRae in the picture with their costumes as well.

One year later, the Cavs went above and beyond again at a Halloween party. LeBron hosted another memorable gathering with his teammates and friends with a creative setup and incredible choices in costumes.

This time, LeBron dressed up as Pennywise from the movie, “IT.” Love and Bock channeled their inner WCW fandom as Wolfpac Sting and Hulk Hogan. Smith went as a Conehead with his girlfriend.

Isaiah Thomas looked like an Eazy-E clone. Tristan Thompson paid tribute to Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo alongside Khloe Kardashian’s version of Daenerys Targaryen. And Dwyane Wade took part as one half of Milli Vanilli with his wife, actress Gabrielle Union.

The Cavs have historically gotten into the spirit of Halloween, but that 2016 party was a different kind of legendary around Cleveland.
