WATCH: Max Strus Hits Half Court Shot To Give Cavs Victory Over Mavericks
No timeouts, down by one point, and the Cleveland Cavaliers come away with a 121-119 victory over the Dallas Mavericks thanks to a half-court shot by Max Strus.
Watch the play here and try not to smile as the Cavs forward gets dog-piled by his teammates.
Dallas thought they had the game sealed after P.J. Washington made the layup giving them a one-point lead while the Cavaliers had no timeouts left. Strus had other plans though and knocked down the game-winning shot from well behind the half-court line.
The Cavs and Mavs played a tight matchup the entire night and this one was destined to go down to the final possessions. There were a total of 25 lead changes and each team blew double-digit leads at some point during the game.
But it was Strus who ended up being the hero in the end.
Strus finished the night with 21 points and shot 58% (7-12) from the floor and 70% (7-10 from behind the arc. This buzzer-beater will be what is replayed all over social media for the next day, but Max came up clutch for the Cavaliers multiple times in the fourth quarter hitting four straight threes to get Cleveland back into the game.
J.B. Bickerstaff has been stressing that the Cavs need to get back to their three-point shooting identity and hit that 40 three-point attempts a game. Funny enough, Strus' game-winning shot was Cleveland's 40th attempt.
The Cavs sweep the season series 2-0 against the Mavericks with this victory. Next up for the wine and gold are the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.
