Evan Mobley is finally back on the floor and Darius Garland will reportedly make his return on Wednesday when the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Detroit Pistons. One of the storylines surrounding both of these players is how they will reacclimate themselves to a team with a dramatically different game plan than from when they were injured.
Something is for sure, Garland is a perfect fit with this new-look Cavaliers team. In fact, he should thrive in this new offense.
What is this new Cavaliers game plan?
For those who haven't watched the team over the last six weeks, Cleveland is shooting the three-ball at a much higher rate than before DG injured his jaw. From the beginning of the season until December 14, the Cavs attempted 33.1 three-point attempts a game, but from December 15 that has jumped to 42 attempts a game.
DG has always been known for his three-point shooting. This was one of his biggest strengths coming out of college and that has carried over to his NBA game. Garland's career three-point percentage is 38% on almost six attempts a game.
Having him shoot the ball more could take this Cavaliers offense to new heights.

The increase in three-point shooting has generated a lot of chatter over the last month. However, there is another byproduct of this new focus which is Cleveland's fast pace of play. Another one of Garland's strengths is his speed and playmaking ability in transition. Cleveland's faster pace of play will allow him to make more plays during fast breaks.
Will it take some time for Garland to get used to playing in a different offense? Of course, but the Cavaliers' will be better off in the long term with him leading the team as the point guard.
