Celtics Star Questionable for Monday's Game vs. Hornets
After getting swept in a two-tilt mini-series against the Atlanta Hawks, the Boston Celtics bounced back with a 104-92 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
While they didn't get off to an encouraging start in the Crescent City, surrendering 37 points in the first quarter, the visitors dialed in defensively after the opening frame, limiting Zion Williamson and Co. to 55 points in the final 36 minutes.
Jaylen Brown, who registered 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block, took on the challenge of guarding the six-foot-six, 284-pound Williamson with force and physicality while also utilizing his length and quickness.
Between that and effective team defense, the Celtics held the former first-overall pick to 4/11 shooting, and they forced him into committing four turnovers following the first quarter.
After the victory, Brown, who clutched his left wrist after a sequence where he stripped Williamson and went in for a transition layup that Derrick White cleaned up, shared that he's been dealing with a left-hand injury.
"I'm gonna get that looked at when we get back to Boston," conveyed the two-time All-Star. "But it's been bothering me for a little bit now."
As the C's prepare for the final matchup in their six-game road trip, which will take place on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets, their initial injury report lists the Marietta, Georgia native as questionable due to a left-hand sprain.
Kristaps Porzingis, who was excellent in Saturday's win, contributing 19 points, ten rebounds, four blocks, and two steals, shares that status ahead of Monday's contest because of right hamstring injury management.
Jaden Springer, who's missed Boston's last two tilts due to left knee tendinopathy, is also questionable for the Celtics' game in the Queen City.
JD Davison is inactive for the third straight tilt because of a left ankle sprain he suffered in a G League matchup on Wednesday.
