Jaylen Brown Praises Celtics for Their 'Mindset and Mentality' Shining Through Win Over Mavericks
The Boston Celtics swept their two-game Texas road trip with a 119-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum had another best duo in the league type of performance, combining for 24-43 from the field with seven threes.
It was another high-level game of intensity for the Celtics, and they were able to hold the lead and stay in control. After the win, Brown talked to NBC Sports Boston's Abby Chin, who acknowledged Brown guarding Luka Doncic and taking him one-on-one through a large portion of the contest during his monster triple-double.
Brown even dropped Doncic with a cross-over in the second quarter.
"Just being aggressive—it happens; it's a part of basketball," the two-time All-Star said. "I respect him for getting out there and trying. Even in the second half, instead of trying to hide him, they tried to put him on me, and he got some stops toward the end of the game. So, respect to him, but it's a part of basketball; just come out and play hard."
Brown knew it showed the character of the team to be able to come out and dominate the two-game road trip and win on the second night of the back-to-back shorthanded.
"I think it was great," he said. "You know, this is the tough part of the season, mindset and mentality is gonna shine through, and this was a good example of that tonight. On a back-to-back, team came out, started out hot, and we just were able to roll on. Down a guy, our big fella KP wasn't playing, but we found a way to get a win anyway."
It does not get any easier for Boston, as they go to Miami to take on the Miami Heat Thursday night on TNT.
