On Friday night, the Boston Celtics picked up a 133-123 win over the New York Knicks. During the final quarter, Jaylen Brown received a pair of technical fouls and was ejected from the game.

The incident started when Brown was called for a reach-in foul while guarding Immanuel Quickley. Brown voiced disagreement towards the referees and was then assigned his first technical. The 27-year-old continued protesting from the bench, which prompted his ejection.

After the Celtics' win, improving to 10-0 at TD Garden to start the 2023-24 campaign, Brown reacted to his first career ejection.

“I always thought my first career ejection would be something more exciting … not some overemotional ref who had a bad day.”

The Georgia native further alluded that the referee’s decision was drastic.

"I wish I would've got my money's worth... I'm on the bench, he can't hear what I'm saying. He called a tech from across the court."

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla also expressed disapproval towards Brown’s removal.

“I’ve been on the sidelines in the NBA for five years, and I’ve seen players act and say things that are way more disrespectful than that,” said Mazzulla. “I’m doing everything I can to not cost myself $25,000.”
