The Latest on the Health Front for Monday's Celtics-Pistons Game
Fresh off a 130-104 Saint Patrick's Day win in the nation's capital, the Boston Celtics return home to face the Detroit Pistons.
Sam Hauser, who erupted for a career-high 30 points, burying 10/13 threes, also a personal best, is unavailable for the hosts due to the left ankle sprain that abruptly ended his evening before he could set a new franchise and possibly NBA record for the most makes from beyond the arc in a game.
According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the expectation is that the six-foot-eight sharpshooter will not miss an extended period.
The Celtics, playing on the second night of a back-to-back, are without Al Horford, who's inactive for Monday's matchup against the Pistons due to a left big toe sprain.
Their lengthy injury report includes Jrue Holiday, who's out because of a right shoulder contusion. After missing the C's last five games due to a right hamstring strain, Kristaps Porzingis is listed as probable to play vs. Detroit.
Jayson Tatum, who's suited up for 64 of Boston's 67 contests this season, spoke after generating 30 points in Sunday's 26-point win over the Washington Wizards about consistently being available for his team and the fans, especially those in markets outside of the city he stars in, who have far fewer opportunities to see him play in person.
While his approach helps him maintain his ironman status, Monday may prove one of his rare nights off as the Celtics try to pace him in the final stretch before the playoffs.
The two-time All-NBA First Team selection is questionable due to a right ankle impingement.
The other half of the C's star wing tandem, Jaylen Brown, is also questionable for Monday's matchup due to the right ankle sprain that kept him out of Sunday's tilt.
Two-way guard JD Davison is also on Boston's injury report. He's out due to a non-Covid illness.
Monday's game against the 12-55 Pistons will tip off at 7:30 EST.
