The Boston Celtics had two openings for a full-time roster spot and had to fill at least one. It's a task they've accomplished by signing free-agent sharpshooter Svi Mykhailiuk, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The former Kansas Jayhawks star was weighing offers from the C's and overseas before opting to remain stateside.

The six-foot-seven wing is effective off the catch and the dribble from three-point range, evidenced by him burying 43.9 percent of his 1.8 opportunities of the former and 40.5 percent of his 1.3 long-range pull-ups last season, per NBA.com.

While each comes on a low volume, he drilled 40.4 percent of the 5.1 threes he hoisted while with the Pistons in 2019-20. Mykhailiuk also knocked down 40.4 percent of his 3.7 attempts from beyond the arc in 19 appearances with the Hornets last season.

There have been three instances where he shot below 33.5 percent from three-point range, but changing teams during three of his five NBA campaigns and inconsistent playing time and touches factor into that.

While the 26-year-old, of course, proves more productive when the latter two increase, like they did in Charlotte last season, as he starts entering his physical prime, coupled with the amount of experience he has in a role that will more closely resemble the minutes Mykhailiuk gets in Boston, where he'll get called on to contribute more when someone ahead of him on the depth chart's inactive, his familiarity with this type of opportunity could translate to more success in it.

For his career, he has made an average of 36 percent of the 4.7 threes he's launched, and his shooting prowess meshes with Joe Mazzulla's three-point-heavy approach. His addition bolsters the Celtics' depth on the wings.
