Danny Green's Reportedly Made a Decision About Where He'll Sign

The Celtics and Cavaliers were considered co-favorites to sign Danny Green.

Sunday afternoon, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers were co-favorites to land one of the top options on the buyout market, Danny Green.

After going from the Grizzlies to the Rockets at the trade deadline, he and Houston are finalizing a buyout of his expiring $10 million contract.

The three-time NBA champion recently returned from an ACL injury, appearing in three games for the Grizzlies. While the sample size is small, he knocked down 37.5 percent of the 2.7 threes he hoisted. Green's a career 39.9 percent three-point shooter on 4.8 attempts from beyond the arc.

He's also an effective perimeter defender, making him the type of 3&D option who would be an ideal addition for Boston on the buyout market.

Unfortunately for the team with the NBA's top record (40-16), Green reportedly intends to join the Cavaliers, per Wojnarowski. The two sides are reportedly finalizing a deal bringing Green back to the franchise that drafted him out of North Carolina.

At 37-22, Cleveland is fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and one of the teams capable of besting the Celtics in a seven-game series. The Cavaliers beat Boston in both of their first two matchups this season.

Those two tilts took place in late October and early November before the Celtics had Robert Williams in the lineup. The same (obviously) goes for trade-deadline acquisition Mike Muscala.

With Green taking his talents elsewhere, here are some other potential options for Boston on the buyout market.

However, perhaps it's not over yet.

Update: According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, after Green clears waivers, he'll sign a one-year, $2 million contract with the Cavaliers.
