Here's Where Jayson Tatum Finished in MVP Voting
On Tuesday night, Joel Embiid was named the 2022-2023 NBA MVP. The Philadelphia 76ers center finished ahead of finalists Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Jayson Tatum took fourth place in the MVP race. This is a career-best finish for the Boston Celtics forward, who averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game during the regular season.
Though Tatum fell short of winning the award, he’s been having a memorable year. The St. Louis native led the NBA in total points and was crowned the 2023 All-Star Game MVP.
It’s anticipated that Tatum will soon earn another All-NBA team selection. Last year, Tatum was picked for the All-NBA First Team after taking sixth place in the MVP race.
Embiid and Tatum are both on track to win their first NBA championship, but only one will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Game 2 of the Celtics-76ers series is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 pm. Embiid is expected to be sidelined due to a right knee injury.
