With 1:30 left in the first half of the Celtics' 106-99 win over the Sixers on Wednesday, a Jayson Tatum missed layup turned from tough luck to a far more concerning development.

Boston retained possession, but after a missed three by Jaylen Brown from the right corner, the Celtics' stars chased after the rebound from opposite directions.

When Tatum grabbed it, he also inadvertently elbowed Brown in the face.

Brown then went to the locker room and did not return. Boston ruled him out due to a facial contusion.

After the game, Joe Mazzulla said, "I haven't gotten an update yet," finishing his answer by expressing, "I hope he's ok."

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports Brown suffered a facial fracture that could result in him being out through the All-Star break.

Brown, who recently earned his second All-Star selection, will receive further examination with a specialist on Thursday, per Charania.
