Saturday night at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics host the Houston Rockets. It's Ime Udoka's first trip back since the suspension that eventually led to his departure from the franchise he helped guide to the 2022 NBA Finals.
It's also an opportunity for the C's to build on the franchise record they established on Wednesday, pulling out a 127-120 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The victory improved their home record to 18-0, their best start to a season when playing on the parquet.
Ahead of Saturday's matchup, Boston's made a roster move involving a member of the team's extended rotation, dubbed the "Stay Ready Crew."
The Celtics assigned Dalano Banton to their G League affiliate in Maine. The third-year Swiss army knife is averaging 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes of floor time this season. He's appeared in 19 games, including registering four points, three rebounds, two steals, and a block in 18 minutes of Thursday's 135-102 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Boston recently guaranteed his contract, a deal worth slightly north of $2 million for the 2023-24 campaign. They also did so for Luke Kornet, Lamar Stevens, and Svi Mykhailiuk, decisions driven by multiple motivations.
