Kawhi Leonard's Injury Status for LA Clippers vs. Utah Jazz
The LA Clippers are facing the Utah Jazz on Friday night in the second half of a back-to-back, and superstar forward Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out with right knee inflammation. The Clippers had previously been listing Leonard on the injury report with right knee soreness, but that status has now changed to right knee inflammation.
Clippers head coach Ty Lue refused to answer whether or not Leonard had an MRI done on his knee when asked prior to Thursday night's game against the Denver Nuggets, saying only that Leonard is dealing with knee soreness and will miss a couple of games. The current sense, based upon Lue's messaging, is that Leonard is not dealing with something that will cost him the remainder of the regular season or any time in the postseason, but the Clippers are going to be careful with their star forward any time he is less than 100%.
Picking up a huge win over the Nuggets on Thursday night without Leonard, the Clippers will look to replicate that on Friday when they face a very shorthanded Jazz team. LA has proven the ability to step up in Leonard‘s absence at times this season, and while they have not needed to do it very often, there have been some encouraging moments from the Clippers this season with Leonard sidelined.
