Kawhi Leonard's Unexpected Injury Status for Clippers vs. Kings
The LA Clippers initially released a clean injury report for Tuesday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings, but star forward Kawhi Leonard has since been downgraded to out with right knee soreness. The Clippers will have to play the Kings without their best player as they try to stay perfect on this four-game road trip.
Defeating the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets so far on this trip, the Clippers will play this last game in Sacramento before heading back home to face the defending champion Denver Nuggets. Leonard’s status for that game against Denver will be something to follow, as the Clippers certainly hope this is not an injury that will force him to miss more than just one game.
Having been durable for the Clippers this season, Leonard has played in 68 games, which makes him eligible for All-NBA honors. A meniscus injury kept Leonard to just two playoff games last year, as he was dominant to start that opening round against the Phoenix Suns, but was unable to finish the series.
Having avoided any major injuries this season, Leonard has not had any extended time out of the lineup, and the hope is certainly that this knee issue will not be something that costs him several games. For now, the star forward is out vs. the Kings.
