BREAKING: Former Clippers Player Signs With Boston Celtics
Officially drafted 55th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in 2020, Jay Scrubb was moved to the LA Clippers where he played 22 NBA games before being waived and signing a deal with the Orlando Magic. Scrubb played two NBA games with Orlando before being waived again, and has been playing for the Boston Celtics during this year's Summer League.
In a report on Saturday afternoon from NBA insider Chris Haynes, it was revealed that Scrubb and the Celtics had reached an agreement on a two-way contract for the 6'5" guard, who has been impressive so far in Summer League.
Drafted out of John A. Logan Community College, Scrubb is trying to establish himself at the NBA level. While a two-way deal will not guarantee him playing time above the G-League, it does give Scrubb a chance to spend time with the big club if an opportunity presents itself. While he awaits that opportunity, Scrubb will look to dominate in the G-League.
In his 24 career NBA games, Scrubb has averaged 4.0 PPG in just 9.8 minutes per contest. Still hoping for an extended look in the NBA, Scrubb clearly impressed the Celtics, who are excited to get the 22-year-old in their organization. As previously mentioned, most two-way players spend the bulk of their time in the G-League, but NBA opportunities do present themselves, and Scrubb will be waiting for his.
