When the LA Clippers signed Russell Westbrook after his buyout with the Utah Jazz, he immediately changed their culture. Often struggling with a lack of urgency, the Clippers needed a spark, and Westbrook provided it. This is something Clippers head coach Ty Lue recently detailed on the All The Smoke podcast, revealing his honest feelings about Westbrook and what the former MVP provides.

"I love Russ," Lue said. "When you get a guy like that who plays hard every single night, and gives you everything every single night, and he plays every single night, and he plays the same way every single night... you know what you're getting. He's a tough dude, tough minded... He saved us. PG goes down, he went to another level. I love him. We got a great relationship."

Lue spoke about the open and honest dialogue he and Westbrook are able to keep, which allows their partnership to thrive. It's something that will likely get even better next season when Westbrook has an opportunity to get a full training camp alongside his Clippers teammates.

It's not often that a player of Westbrook's caliber approaches the game the way he does, but that's exactly who he is, and its exactly what this Clippers team needed. Ty Lue recognizes that, and is thankful to have Westbrook on his side again.
