Clippers Reportedly Interested in Another 76ers Player

Could the Philadelphia 76ers send P.J. Tucker to the LA Clippers in a James Harden trade

Everybody knows at this point that the LA Clippers are interested in trading for Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden; however, a recent report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed that they also could pursue veteran forward P.J. Tucker:

"PJ Tucker, Harden's longtime teammate with the Rockets and Sixers, has come up in trade discussions between the 76ers and Clippers, league sources told HoopsHype. The Clippers covet Tucker’s ability to guard multiple positions and defend the league’s top opposing scorers. Tucker is owed $11 million this upcoming year and has a $11.54 million player option for the 2024-25 season."

Tucker would be an interesting fit for the Clippers, because while they would likely be parting with at least one of their three veteran power forwards in a trade with Philadelphia, Tucker doesn't project to be what they need at that position. At age 38, Tucker is nearly a complete non-factor offensively, and is owed over $22M the next two seasons.

While he still shot 39.3% from deep last season, Tucker attempted just 1.9 threes per game, and took them almost exclusively from the corner. Of his 140 three-point attempts last season, Tucker took 135 of them from the corner. Still a threat from there, it's about all Tucker can do offensively at this point in his career, which could make him a less than ideal fit next to LA's current collection of players.
