Speaking with the media on Thursday morning, LA Clippers president Lawrence Frank said the team wants to re-sign Russell Westbrook. While Frank understands that Westbrook earned the right to explore free agency, he also made it clear that the veteran guard provides several things the Clippers desperately needed.

Speaking on Westbrook, Frank praised his willingness to adapt and accept whatever role the Clippers threw at him, despite his pedigree as one of the game's all-time great players. Frank added that Westbrook's leadership and spirit off the court were huge for the Clippers, and are additional reasons why the team wants him back.

In 21 regular season games with the Clippers, Westbrook averaged 15.8 PPG, 7.6 APG, and 4.9 RPG on 48.9% from the field and 35.6% from deep. With the Clippers asking more of him in the postseason with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sidelined, Westbrook's numbers jumped to 23.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 7.4 APG in 5 playoff games.

It certainly makes sense why the Clippers would want Westbrook back; however, the financial logistics could get complicated. Limited with their financial flexibility, the Clippers could theoretically be outbid for Westbrook in free agency. The veteran point guard made it clear that he loves being with the Clippers, but there is no way to know how much of a discount he would be willing take in order to stay.
