During a recent appearance on the Big Facts show, former LA Clippers guard Lou Williams spoke extensively on load management.

"I can see both sides of it," Williams said. "If I'm a kid and I only get to see X, Y, Z play one time, I want him to suit up. But those fans and people that's crying for that have never experienced what an NBA season will do to your body. Load management ain't for everybody, by the way. We talk about load management, but if you look at the guys that are practicing load management, they're doing it because they've had injuries in the past. So you gotta manage that sh-t."

Williams also spoke on the misconception that load management as decided upon by players, when it's actually decided upon by a team's medical staff.

"And let me tell ya'll about load management," Williams said. "No player has ever put himself on load management. So everybody be mad at the players, we come in and they tell us the schedule... No player is coming in like, 'You know what, tonight I ain't feeling that sh-t.' We don't have that option. It's been put in a way where the fans be mad at the players. They're not the ones that be making a decision on that schedule."

Williams was teammates with Kawhi Leonard, who is one of the players who often gets criticized for load management, but this discussion helped provide some clarity as to why it occurs.
