Former Clippers Player Slams Lakers Fans for Treatment of Russell Westbrook
Quentin Richardson may no longer be a part of the NBA, but he's as involved as a former player could be. The former three-point champion currently hosts the Knuckleheads podcast with Darius Miles and keeps up-to-date in all things NBA.
There's one thing in the current NBA that Richardson wasn't a fan of - the way Lakers fans treated Russell Westbrook. On an episode of the The OGs, Richardson slammed Lakers fans for how they treated Westbrook.
"Think about how the Lakers fans was trying to make it all about him," Richardson said. "Their record's the same. And he's gone. And now he's over here doing his thing, he's showing that he's for the team. To take himself out of the equation, and say I'll come off the bench, and do this and that, that's all selfless behavior. Why didn't he get shined more on?"
If anything, Richardson believes Russell Westbrook deserves far more credit than anyone is currently giving him. He willingly came off the bench as a Hall of Fame player, and his decision helped propel the Clippers to being one of the best teams in the league.
"They was so busy trying to dog my G and talk sh*t about him, but like, he just did some huge sh*t," Richardson said. "For somebody in his shoes, to be what he is, to have the accolades, and the success he's had, and then to just say: 'I'll come off the bench.' And just take all the pressure off everything. I don't think that he got enough credit for what he did, and the way he did it. And then, to see the results. They turned their sh*t around, and they hoopin, and now where's all that talk?"
Russell Westbrook may never receive the respect he deserves from Lakers fans, but winning an NBA Championship this season will definitely silence some of his critics.
