The Milwaukee Bucks are hosting the LA Clippers on Monday night, and superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was initially listed as questionable with left achilles tendinitis, but has since been ruled out.

The Bucks have been playing much better basketball recently, having won five-straight games to begin turning around what was a rough start to Doc Rivers' time as head coach. This will be a tough test for Milwaukee up against the Clippers, and it will of course be even more difficult with Antetokounmpo now unable to go.

While a lot of MVP buzz has rightfully gone to Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Antetokounmpo has a strong case himself. Averaging 30.8 PPG, 11.3 RPG, and 6.3 APG while remaining one of the league's elite defenders, Antetokounmpo is very much in that tier of MVP candidates.

The Bucks continuing to turn their season around would go a long way towards strengthening Antetokounmpo's case for MVP, because while Milwaukee never completely fell apart, the firing of Adrian Griffin followed by the early struggles under Rivers was certainly a concerning stretch for the Bucks. Playing much better of late, Milwaukee will host the Clippers on Monday as they look to keep that going.

The final status for Antetokounmpo was revealed by Doc Rivers when he addressed the media prior tip-off, which is scheduled for 5:00 PM PST.
