Injury Report: Paul George's Game 5 Status vs. Suns
Another day, another game without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard for the LA Clippers. It looks like Paul George may be nearing a return, but he isn't quite there yet for LA.
The LA Clippers have revealed that Paul George is officially listed as out for Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns. He remains out with the same knee sprain that's kept him sidelined since March 21.
George has been seen looking like he's almost game-ready in his workouts during practice, but he's still not ready. Two weeks ago, George mentioned that his return was "coming down to the wire", and it really feels that way when you watch him workout. It looks like he's either on the cusp of returning during a very late first round game, or a very early second recond round game. It's a very tough situation from a timing perspective.
While fans and analysts want to blast Paul George for missing his second post-season in a row with the Clippers, this injury really wasn't his fault. He was accidentally undercut on a rebound by Lu Dort just a few weeks before the NBA Playoffs started. If he was injured maybe a week earlier, then he likely could have returned during the first round of the NBA Playoffs, and that's what makes things even more frustrating.
For now, the LA Clippers will have to figure out a way to survive without both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in Game 5 tonight.
