Kawhi Leonard's Injury Status for Clippers vs Suns Game 5 Revealed
It' not a debate anymore, the LA Clippers are the unluckiest team in basketball this season. The team had a 1-0 lead against the Phoenix Suns without Paul George, but have since fallen three straight games without both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. It looks like they'll have to do it again without both.
The LA Clippers revealed that Kawhi Leonard is officially listed as out against the Phoenix Suns in Game 5. He remains out with the same knee sprain injury that's kept him out since Game 3.
It's never a good sign when a player is ruled out a whole day before the game, so it's likely that Leonard's injury is fairly serious to keep him out like this. The knee soreness and swelling first occurred at the end of Game 1, and then he decided to play through it in Game 2. Unfortunately, playing through the injury only made things worse for Kawhi, and the swelling has been bad enough to keep him out for the next three straight games.
Now, the LA Clippers have to figure out a way to win Game 5 without both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, or their season is over. Russell Westbrook and the team had valiant efforts in both Games 3 and 4, but the Phoenix Suns have both been masterful from the mid-range and had a bit more help from the referees than the Clippers did. It's do-or-die tonight at 7:00 pm PST.
