The Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns shocked the NBA world on Wednesday night when they agreed to a trade that will send Kevin Durant to Phoenix. The trade came out of nowhere, as all signs had pointed to the Brooklyn Nets looking to retool around Durant after trading Kyrie Irving, but Brooklyn will now enter a full rebuild.

Kyrie Irving made his Dallas Mavericks debut vs. the LA Clippers on Wednesday night, and was unsurprisingly asked about Durant during his postgame media session. When asked about the move, Irving said, "It's not the first time we'll have competition as brothers. I'm just praying for his happiness and praying for his well-being. We had a lot of conversations throughout the year about what our futures were gonna look like. There was still a level of uncertainty. But we just cared about seeing each other in places that we could thrive."

Irving added that he and Durant have never been angry at one another for decisions they had to make, and instead just tried to understand each other a lot better. Irving did add a very interesting quote at the end of his answer, saying, "I'm just glad he got out of there."

The situation in Brooklyn had obviously become something that Irving wanted no part of, and while Durant reportedly left on good terns, Irving is happy that he got out as well.
