Major Joel Embiid Injury Update Revealed
It was reported on Monday by Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid returned to practice for the first time since injuring his meniscus in January. Pompey added that the 76ers are hopeful that Embiid can return in the first or second week of April, which would give him at least a few games to get ready for the postseason.
The 76ers have 15 games left, including two against the LA Clippers at the end of March. Having yet to face LA this season, Philadelphia has not gotten a look at their former star James Harden, who was of course dealt to the Clippers earlier this season.
With this latest report from Pompey, it seems that Embiid will not be ready to return by those two games against the Clippers, which come on March 24th in Los Angeles and March 27th in Philadelphia.
The 76ers are currently the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, but sit just a half-game back of the 6th seed Indiana Pacers. Finishing in the top-six is a very big deal with the NBA's play-in tournament including the 7th through 10th seeds, and that is certainly a goal for the 76ers going down the stretch of the season.
With Embiid progressing, it seems the 76ers remain hopeful they can get him back before the postseason.
