NBA Legend Defends Kawhi Leonard From Recent Slander
Whether you like Kawhi Leonard or hate him, no one can deny how great of a player he is. Fans are so used to seeing Leonard injured recently that they forget he's a two time NBA Finals MVP, and it's something that NBA Hall of Famer Reggie Miller wants them to remember.
Reggie Miller was a guest on The Dan Patrick Show where he defended Kawhi Leoanrd from the recent slander he's received due to injuries and load management.
"Well you can't erase two championships, one with an organization that was used to winning with the Spurs, and he was more so known as a defender on that team, but look, that Toronto run came out of nowhere no one expected that," Miller said. "It hurts because I love Kawhi, and I know how much of a competitor he is. I've never been a big fan of load management."
Even when Kawhi Leonard wasn't at a 100% this season, he still looked better than most players in the NBA. Even when Kawhi Leonard played through a torn meniscus in Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns, he still looed like a top 5 player in the NBA. That's something Reggie Miller believe can't be denied.
"Kawhi Leonard at whatever percent you play at, would be better than most small fours slash power forwards at any percent that would be the only thing I would say to that because he is too good too talented, and at times no one is a hundred percent this time of year you've got to be able to play through it to me that's what you got to be mentally strong to play through it."
Kawhi Leonard is in an unwinnable situation right now. Fans complain that he doesn't play through injury, yet he did that in Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns and it resulted in a torn meniscus. No one is giving him his props, or any respect for trying to give his team a boost in the playoffs. If that's the case, then why should Kawhi ever play through injury?
