LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook is heavily involved in the Los Angeles community. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Westbrook announced his involvement in a project called "Evermont" that will bring 180 affordable housing units, a SEED school, and community centered businesses to the corner of Vermont and Manchester avenues in South LA.

Primestor Development, a partner of Westbrook Enterprises, is creating a new retail center as part of the project that will include Target and South LA Cafe. Additionally, BRIDGE Housing and a second partner, CRCD, are leading the development of the 180 affordable housing units for seniors and families.

Speaking with AllClippers before this NBA season began, Westbrook said, “We have this platform, and me personally I really pride myself on trying to be the face of Los Angeles when it comes to our community. I'm from LA, and I feel like it's my duty and my honor to give back to as many people as possible - especially the underserved communities of Los Angeles. I will do everything I can to make sure I continue to fill some of these gaps, whether it's education, whether it's finances, whether it's healthcare. Whatever that may be, I try my best to do the best I can."

Putting actions behind his words, Westbrook has done a lot for the city of Los Angeles, and continues to find new ways to make an impact on the community he grew up in. This latest announcement is one of the several ways Westbrook is making a difference in the community.
