During the Variety and Sportico Sports & Entertainment Summit Presented by City National Bank, LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook discussed his newest business move as part of the investor group taking over Leeds United. When asked about the process of making this move, Westbrook explained some of the conversations he had with people already involved, including the San Francisco 49ers.

"I was lucky enough to have conversations with some of the parters in this deal as well that already have ownership - as you mentioned the 49ers, I was lucky enough to talk through that... Just talking through different things, talking to my business parter as well, and having conversations and figuring out of this is the right deal," Westbrook said.

Westbrook spoke extensively on Thursday afternoon about his endeavors off the basketball court, which expand beyond just his business deals. Owner of Honor The Gift, a clothing brand based in Los Angeles, California, Westbrook spoke about the challenges of turning this passion into a business.

What Westbrook made clear during his discussion on Thursday, is that all of his business deals and off the court pursuits need to align with his personal values. Caring deeply about the community he came from, Westbrook wants to give back to those facing similar challenges to what he faced growing up.

Speaking about his "Why Not?" Foundation and schools, Westbrook opened up about the impact he hopes to continue making on the youth. Specifically emphasizing the higher education opportunities that so many kids have gotten through his foundation and schools, Westbrook opened up about how much it means to him to see these kids cross the stage at graduations.

While much of what Westbrook does off the court is business related, he made it clear at the Variety and Sportico Sports & Entertainment Summit on Thursday that he sees his platform as a blessing, and it's something he wants to continue using for the greater good.
