Terance Mann Hosts Backpack Giveaway in Inglewood
LA Clippers guard Terance Mann launched the Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation earlier this summer. Beginning the foundation with a free youth clinic in Downey, California on June 25th, Mann and his foundation made their first strong connection to the community he plans to continue impacting.
Since that inaugural skills clinic, Mann spent time in Hawaii to help sort donations for Maui wildfire relief, connect with elementary school students, and begin giving back to that community before the Clippers travel to Hawaii for their training camp.
Upon his return from Hawaii, Mann and his foundation hosted a backpack giveaway in the city of Inglewood. This event was especially meaningful for Mann and his foundation, because it gave him an opportunity to directly connect with the community the Clippers will be moving to next season.
Daynia La-Force, Mann's mother and the Executive Director of his foundation, spoke about this on Saturday, saying, "We chose the community of Inglewood, because we know the Intuit Dome is going to be here pretty soon, and we wanted to make sure we continued to help the Clippers with the community engagement, and getting the people of Inglewood very excited about the Clippers being a part of their community."
This is something Mann himself emphasized as well, saying, "It's an opportunity for me to get close with the community early before we actually move out here, and just get it buzzing."
For Mann, this is one of multiple events his foundation has been a part of this summer, but seeing the faces of every kid he comes across is something that will never get old for him.
"It never gets old no matter where I'm doing it at," Mann said. "Whether it's in Massachusetts, here, New York, Florida, wherever it's at, it's always a great opportunity for me."
Having been blessed with the opportunity to play NBA basketball, Mann recognizes this comes not only with resources that he wants to give back to the community, but also a unique platform that he wants to use for good. Doing both with the Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation, Mann has been making a strong impact in the first summer of his foundation.
