When Russell Westbrook was on the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was arguably the most entertaining player in the NBA. So much so, that his heroics have made him the favorite player of some players in the upcoming draft - specifically, Victor Wembanyama.

Wembanyama was being interviewed in a special segment called "20 Questions with the Class of 2023" where he was asked about who his favorite player was growing up.

"I remember at some point, I was a big fan of Westbrook, you know, OKC," Wembanyama said when asked about his favorite NBA player growing up. "I have plenty though, I didn't have like one big idol."

Typically, most players say their favorite players were Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, or LeBron James growing up, so it's a pretty nice breath of fresh air to hear someone say Russell Westbrook. In all fairness to Westbrook, he was a once-in-generation player when he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 11 seasons with the Thunder, Westbrook averaged 23.0 points, 8.4 assists, and 7.0 rebounds in 821 games. In his now-forgotten MVP season, he averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists in an entire season. That run alone can explain why Westbrook has the diehard fanbase that he does.

As the NBA draft approaches tomorrow, all eyes will be on Victor Wembanyama. He's been touted as arguably the greatest draft prospect ever, and it's almost a foregone conclusion that he'll be drafted by the Spurs. Hopefully, it's the start of a very special career.
