New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson dominated the LA Clippers on Friday night, finishing with 34 points to lead his team to a season series win over the Clippers.

When asked after the game about clinching the season series over LA, Williamson said, "It was on our mind, in a sense that every game matters. If we want to be in a good spot with the standings, we have to win every game, so that’s the mindset."

Williamson spent some time defensively on Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, saying of that challenge, "Communication and being physical. Paul George and Kawhi [Leonard], they’re both elite shot-makers, so they’re going to hit some shots, but just being physical and still communicating was the game plan."

Taking over in the second half, Williamson had 23 of his 34 points in that half. When asked about this, the Pelicans star said, "I’m a competitor. I want to win. Simple as that."

The Pelicans and Clippers are very likely to face off in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, with neither team likely to move out of the 4th and 5th seeds. With New Orleans now just two games back of LA, while owning the tiebreaker, their goal is to catch the Clippers and secure home court advantage in that potential series.
