Paul George's Statement After Comeback Win vs. Cavaliers
The LA Clippers erased a 26-point deficit on Sunday afternoon to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-118. Paul George was dominant, finishing with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists including the game-winning step-back jumper.
While George was undoubtedly the player of the game, LA's bench put the team in position to make the comeback, as their play helped turn this game around. When asked about this after the game, George praised the contributions of his teammates, saying his game-winner would not have been possible without them.
"They were great," George said of LA's bench. "[Russell Westbrook] brought a ton of energy, which he always does. [Mason Plumlee] was good. Amir [Coffey], big three. [Norman Powell] was aggressive, made timely shots… I can’t take credit for none of it without them. I thought they made the big shots."
George said he told both Terance Mann and Amir Coffey that his big shot to win the game doesn't happen without their big three-point makes in the possessions prior. As George added, this was an all-around team win for the Clippers. Turning a 26-point deficit into an electric home victory is something the Clippers will look to build on as they try to gather some momentum entering the postseason.
This was an impressive win for LA, and their 50th on the season.
