Ty Lue Reveals Latest Injury Update on Kawhi Leonard
LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has been sidelined for the last three games with left knee soreness and inflammation. While all signs point towards this not being a major injury for Leonard, there is no official word on when he will make his return to the lineup.
When asked for an update on Leonard prior to Friday night's game against the Utah Jazz, Clippers head coach Ty Lue said, "Just day-to-day. He's progressing. He's feeling better."
This is the most Lue has spoken on Leonard's injury, as he previously refused to answer whether or not the star forward had received an MRI. Based upon Lue's comments and the sense around the team, Leonard is expected to return before the playoffs begin. When that return will be remains to be seen, but this is not an injury that projects to keep him out much longer.
The Clippers have done well in Leonard's three game absence, having won consecutive games against the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz after falling to the Sacramento Kings. Almost certain to finish 4th in the Western Conference, the Clippers do not have to do anything spectacular down the stretch of the regular season. Unlikely to rise or fall in the standings, LA is going to be cautious with Leonard, as they understand his health remains the biggest key to their championship hopes.
