In this story:

Entering the 2023 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets had the unique opportunity to select back-to-back in the latter half of the first round. Quality talent always slides into the early twenties every year, so this wasn't a bad place to be. Furthermore, Brooklyn is set to enter its first full season since trading away Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, so Thursday's outcomes feel significant.

Draft Summary

While the prospects that Brooklyn landed on draft night are all quality talents and good value for the position in which they were selected, the positions the franchise went with were interesting. The Nets have a surplus of wings and forwards, but added three more players that fit that criteria on Thursday.

With how quickly rosters turn over, it shouldn't be a problem longer term. However in the meantime, it will be interesting to see how much playing time at the NBA level these three get as rookies. In general, it will be interesting to see what direction Brooklyn goes this upcoming season. Keep an eye on Whitehead, who could have been a potential lottery pick but is recovering from injury and couldn't participate in many pre-draft events.
