2023 NBA Summer League: Top Rookie Performers From July 8 Games

When looking back at the slate of games on July 8, these four rookies shined brightest in NBA Summer League.

In the second day of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, another round of rookies made their respective debuts. While there may not have been as many elite prospects taking the floor as on Friday, there were still a ton of quality players that were immediately impactful. With another eight games on the slate Saturday, a sold out event allowed NBA fans to get a first glimpse at the future of the league.

Which four rookies were the top performers in yesterday’s slate of games?

Keyonte George

Keyonte George, Baylor Bears

33 Points | 10 Assists | 1 Steal

Following a stellar showing in Salt Lake City’s summer league, George got even better in his Las Vegas debut. In what has perhaps been the best performance of the summer thus far for any rookie, he completely dominated the game. For a team like the Jazz, he looks like the starting point guard of the future.

Cason Wallace (Oklahoma City Thunder)

Cason Wallace, Kentucky Wildcats

20 Points | 2 Assists | 2 Steals

Wallace made his debut on Saturday morning and proved to be the best shooter on the floor for either team. Getting it going early, he knocked down five triples in the first half and finished 6-for-10 from beyond the arc in total. He was Oklahoma City's leading scorer on the day, looking more and more like a cornerstone of the franchise.

Anthony Black (Orlando Magic)

Anthony Black, Arkansas Razorbacks

17 Points | 5 Assists | 5 Rebounds

He was on triple-double watch at halftime, but was ultimately less productive in the second half relative to the first. Regardless, Black finished with 17 points to go along with five boards and five assists while shooting 70% from the floor. A two-way player with high efficiency will give him the opportunity to shine in the modern NBA.

Jordan Walsh (Boston Celtics)

Jordan Walsh, Arkansas Razorbacks

18 Points | 5 Rebounds | 2 Steals

There's no question Walsh could end up being a steal relative to his draft position in the second round. He was excellent from beyond the arc on Saturday, finishing with 18 points on the day. The Arkansas product also got after it defensively, notching two steals.
