2024 NBA Draft: A First Look at USC Guard Isaiah Collier
With the college basketball season impending, it’s time to take a look at a few prospects who could make a push for the No. 1 spot.
While this year’s class is more up in the air than 2023, which featured 7-foot-4 French phenom Victor Wembanyama, there’s still several that could make No. 1-worthy pushes with strong seasons.
One of those is USC’s Isaiah Collier, who’s set to take the reins for what is sure to be a strong Trojans squad this season. Draft Digest writer Derek Parker recently took to his YouTube channel to give a first look at the guard:
At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, Collier is a stocky point guard with a knack for dissecting his way to the paint and providing a general offensive engine. He’s got a solid blend of speed, power, handle, pace, shot-making, shooting and fluid, coordinated movement that makes him a real handful as a primary.
Defensively, he'll have a ways to go as a 6-foot-4 guard. But his motor and mindset as a defensive playmakers gives him a better starting point than most.
Key improvement points will be proving he can extend beyond the arc with efficiency, improving as a playmaker and passer, as well as limiting turnovers overall.
If Collier can manage to mitigate his negatives while wowing on the offensive end of the court, the sky’s the limit for him in the 2024 NBA Draft.
