NBA Draft Roundup: Creighton and Duke Duos Shine Saturday
The 2023-24 NBA regular season is already past the quarter mark. And we’re slowly beginning to see which teams need reinforcements via the 2024 NBA Draft.
While most of the draft spots are very much still up in the air, things are beginning to materialize.
Here were some of the top prospect performances in college basketball Saturday:
Scheierman, Alexander Ignite for Creighton
Despite the 5-point loss, prospects Trey Alexander and Baylor Scheierman had great days for the No. 22 Creighton Bluejays.
Alexander, who has finally worked his way into solidified first round contention after a few years, scored 18 points on just under 50% shooting, adding six assists and rebounds apiece, as well as three steals.
Scheierman was the leading scorer in the game, adding 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists to his campaign. He shot a blistering and now-typical 7-for-13 from beyond the arc.
Kyle Filipowski Posts Solid Defensive Performance as McCain Shines
One of the top sophomores in the country, Kyle Filipowski has long been known for his solid offense, which was featured against Queens on Saturday with 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting.
His improved defense, though, has his stock soaring this season, and he had likely his best performance with the Blue Devils in that regard, totaling five blocks on the day.
Not to go unnoticed, freshman Jared McCain added 24 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Bub Carrington Gets Back on Track
After a few down games, Carlton “Bub” Carrington got back on track Saturday against Syracuse, despite Pittsburgh’s loss.
He finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal, shooting 50% overall and from beyond the arc.
He did have a game-high five turnovers, but is still a top guard prospect to watch out for in the 2024 cycle.
