2024 NBA Draft: Maui Invitational Top Prospects
The Maui Invitational is a tournament that includes eight teams competing for the championship. The teams are Tennessee, Syracuse, Gonzaga, Purdue, Kansas, Chaminade, UCLA and Marquette. Here are the top prospects to watch in the tournament as it relates to the 2024 NBA Draft.
Aday Mara | UCLA
Aday Mara is a massive 7-foot-3 center that is the most enticing prospect in this tournament. The big man is a freshman still finding his way into the college game, but the two-way potential is so intriguing. Defensively is where Mara can make his money as he’s an elite rim protector as he’s coming off a game where he had four blocks versus LIU. The uniqueness about his game is how great of a feel he really has and it shows defensively and as a passer. Mara is a talented passing big man that has real vision and awareness. As of right now the he is playing behind fellow center Adem Bona, so expect to see some limited minutes from Mara.
Elmarko Jackson | Kansas
Elmarko Jackson is a freshman point guard for the Kansas Jayhawks that is looked at by some scouts as one of the best lead guard prospects in the draft. He is an athletic prospect that can score it in bunches. His athleticism is his selling card but he’s much more than an athlete as he can finish at the rim, convert on difficult pull-ups and is a better shooter than given credit for. The high upside lead guard is playing on an experienced Jayhawks squad so it will be interesting to see how he performs in a high-level tournament like the Maui Invitational.
Judah Mintz | Syracuse
Judah Mintz is a sophomore guard that has gained some traction as of recently as the combo guard is averaging over 20 points per game in a few games played. The 6-foot-4 guard excels as a scorer inside the arc as he’s a tough shot-maker from the mid-range area and has some craft as a finisher around the rim. Mintz is a skilled scorer that is looking to make improvements as a 3-point shooter, as he was quite inconsistent as an outside shooter last year. If he can become more consistent as a 3-point shooter, then there’s not much keeping him out of first round conversations.
