2024 NBA Draft: Potential No. 1 Overall Picks

With the 2023 NBA draft concluding we now can look forward to next year’s class. Who are the top prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The 2024 NBA draft doesn’t have a Victor Wembanyama talent but there’s still star level talent at the top of the draft. Let’s dive into three different prospects that have a chance at being the top overall pick next summer.

Ron Holland | G League Ignite

Ron Holland, G Leaue Ignite

Ron Holland is one of the best two-way prospects in the entire draft next year. The two-way forward was originally committed to the Texas Longhorns but then ultimately decided to de-commit and take his talents to the G League to join the Ignite. The incoming G League prospect thrives as a slasher in the half-court as he has the above the rim finishing ability and touch around the rim.

He can handle it and has improved at creating his own offense. Holland has improved as an outside shooter over the last year but there’s still improvements to be made. His best skill is his defense. Holland has the defensive versatility to defend up and down a lineup. He’s easily one of the most impactful defenders coming out of this high school class. His fit in the G League is fantastic and is perfect for his style of play.

Isaiah Collier | USC

Isaiah Collier, USC

Isaiah Collier is looked at as the top point guard prospect in the 2024 NBA draft due to his elite playmaking ability and high feel for the game. The lead guard has some of the best vision amongst all draft eligible prospects for next year’s draft. He has the ability to pass teammates open and create efficient offense for himself and others. He’s a bursty guard at 6-foot-3 and does a really good job of consistently getting paint touches and putting pressure on the rim.

The big question for the top prospect is the outside jump-shot. If he can improve his consistency as a shooter then there’s a high chance he ends up as the number one overall pick in next year’s draft. Collier is heading to USC and will be teaming up with Bronny James and they should complement each other extremely well. This’ll be one of the most exciting teams to watch in all of college basketball.

Matas Buzelis | G League Ignite

Matas Buzelis, G League Ignite

Matas Buzelis is one of the most unique prospects in the 2024 NBA draft. At 6-foot-10 he’s extremely versatile offensively and is such a fluid mover at his size. Buzelis possesses tough shot-making ability from all over the perimeter and has really good scoring instincts. The skill forward is a mismatch problem due to the combination of his size and polished scoring. The most underrated part of his game is his vision at his size as he has the ability to serve as a secondary playmaker.

Buzelis has a good handle at his size and it allows him to create for himself and others. The next step for him is to be more consistent on the defensive end as he tends to fall asleep often but he has the tools to be a very good defender. His fit in the G League  should be smooth as it’s the best spot for him to improve upon his strength and overall consistency. This’ll be one of the most exciting Ignite teams we have ever had.
