2024 NBA Draft: A First Look at G League Ignite Forward Ron Holland
A few months out from season start, the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft is still very much up in the air. Which is a bit of a heel turn from last year’s draft with Victor Wembanyama.
There are a handful who could assume than mantle quickly though, including Matas Buzelis, Isaiah Collier, Justin Edwards and more.
Ron Holland, who is the next in line of talented G League Ignite players, could very well catapult himself into a tier of his when it’s all said and done.
Draft Digest writer Derek Parker recently took to his YouTube channel to give a first look at the forward:
At 6-foot-8 with immense physical and athletic tools, Holland has tremendous potential as a two-way forward both in the short and longterm.
For the Ignite next season, he’ll assuredly make plays on both ends of the court. But his stock could be tethered to a few key things.
The first of which will be refining his overall offensive game. With a solid handle and quick-twitch movement, Holland could be a force on-ball. But his style lends itself to some wild play. And showing improvement in terms of overall coordination and things like limiting turnovers could go a long ways.
Another will be proving his jumpshot. While he certainly has the capabilty to extend beyond the arc, as with any prospect, posting solid numbers will be crucial to his stock. And with that being the swing skill between him, Collier, Buzelis and more, the No. 1 pick could very well hinge on that.
Regardless, Holland is clearly in the top tier of this class, and should be a fun prospect to keep tabs on as we edge closer to the next draft.
